WEAT SIP/YP Buffalo Bayou Volunteer Event
WEAT’s young engineers participated this weekend cleaning up the Buffalo Bayou! The tasks included weeding and removing invasive species to beautify the park. Thank you for everyone who came out to help!

Introduction of the Workforce Development Program:
Water Environment Federation (WEF) projected that in the next 10 years, 37 percent of the water utility workers and 31 percent of wastewater utility workers will retire. As a result, EPA, states and industry organizations are working to promote the water sector and ensure that there is a pool of qualified water professionals to meet current and future needs.

Each year, TAWWA Southeast Chapter and WEAT Southeast Section collaborate to host a charity event for the organization Water For People. Jose Mendiola and I serve on the event planning committee and I am pleased to announce that this year the event raised over $15,000 (a new record)! On Friday the 13th, the WEAT Southeast Section had its 9th Annual Sporting Clays Tournament. With over 80 shooters and 16 sponsors, we had another incredible event, exceeding our fundraising goal for the WEAT Scholarship Fund!
